Outcome Imps Ltd provides consultancy support to health and social care organisations who want to improve outcomes for the people using their services. Our services include strategic planning, help with implementing services effectively, writing briefing papers on the evidence base for services, evaluating their effectiveness and helping services develop effective communication strategies.

The name comes from the concept of an imp - a mischevious creature that gets in the way of your service achieving its outcomes. It is not deliberately unhelpful, but it ends up screwing things up for the service so they're not as efficient as they would like. Our service helps to trouble-shoot these imps and get rid of them so the clients using the services improve as much as possible. Our clients are primarily charities, health and social care services and policy makers. They provide, for example, parenting programmes, social work services, youth work and they work with parents as well as children and young people. They are human services working with people on the front line. So it's important that the design appears professional but not stuffy or threatening. Many services believe passionately that what they do helps people but they have real difficulty in proving their benefit to other people such as funders. We help them to find and/or create the evidence that proves and improves what they do. They could in theory turn to Universities but they find them too rigid, academic and inflexible. We need to be able to show that we're credible but friendly - that we'll work in partnership with them and help them (rather than criticise them). We'll help them improve their client's lives as well as make their services more effective, efficient and sustainable. We speak their language and understand their issues and won't overwhelm them with jargon or science - just workable pragmatic help. We are a new company but the Director has over 20 years of working in this field.
