I wouldn't worry about greedy optimistic people like this. The more allocated payments the better, it means that designers have a chance of being paid for their work even if they don't win. Crowdsourcing is lucrative and the more payment steps the better the playing field. It does help to have a higher 1st prize, but token runner up payments are good to. I always appreciate the $25 or so if I don't win, at least I get about half an hour of paid time for my efforts.

Hi Stuart, look i’ve never used design crowd before, so i probably did this all wrong. I have acknowledged that. I did make some participation payments, and i think some are left which i will allocate after the winner. Though as you say, they are just token runner up prizes.
I do appreciate the effort that many designers put into submitting numerous designs. And i would have liked to be able to reward more for their efforts. I wasn't aware until 2 days ago that small participation payments were able to be made at the end of the project. I had thought only the larger 2nd and 3rd prizes were possible. So yes agree, knowing what i do now, i should probably have allocated the budget a bit differently. Next time....

Yes, a project offering lots of payment placings and the fact you want to reward more is great service, what you have done is what should be done for every project, it gets quality results. A high first place payment means you'll attract almost everyone good and bad, having you sift through 500+ designs to shortlist the good ones.

Trust me I have seen some shockers on high budget jobs...

All good, I have asked DC to open the project again for a short time so I can submit designs.
There meshed from what you liked in the samples, might be what your after, or not, but I this project caught my eye, animal logos are always good for the folio if you can land them.
