Brief de Design de Couverture de Livre

I need a cover designed for my new book. It's a fictional novel about the end of the world, although it isn’t the end that matters but rather what happens to the people in the stories who were all busy leading their individual lives.

It is made up of ten different stories and has some graphic and serious parts as well as some dark humour. I have put below the synopsis, key words and also some ideas of how I would like the cover look, which is based on the last story in the book (more details below).

I do not want to see an apocalypse image with the title simply written over it as that is not at all what I’m looking for. I am not sure if what I’m looking for can be created but if it can then the fee is there for the taking. I have not selected guaranteed payment as I’m not sure if what I want can be put together without me having to go to an illustrator. Let’s see!

I'm also looking for true to life characters and not cartoons. Think dark humour, mysterious, but closer to real life than animation.

The book will be published through amazon kindle and ibooks as well as having a paperback option ordered through lulu.com, therefore I need the final cover to be in slightly different quality formats (all detailed below!)


The attached files give more information but please ask questions if you need to. I'm quite clear what I'm looking for so would rather help to get it right.

• The theme for the cover:
• I would like the cover based on the last story, which is also titled Welcome to the Apocalypse. By the tenth story almost 3/4 of the world has been attacked and the population destroyed. Many of the characters that died in earlier stories didn’t know what was attacking but by this story they know that monsters from the depths of the ocean have surfaced and attacked. The last story takes place in a US bunker with the man who is 12th in line for the Presidency of the USA locked inside and being persuaded to launch a nuclear holocaust.
• • Although a serious theme its seen through the eyes of a very confused and pragmatic man and has a slightly dark yet humorous theme to it
• • Imagine a man in his late fifties/early sixties, slim and in a suit, white hair, big rim glasses, with a constant worried expression from being thrust into this position
• • He’s in a chair, hunched over, with the worried expression visible, with a hand over a big red button that he’s being persuaded to press
• • Around him in the background is the bunker, so picture big screens and a scattering of military personnel, the screens are covered in red dots and black skulls to symbolise all the parts of the world already left
• • The last two remaining secret service detail are in there to help protect him
• • There is a General who is almost too happy, a little too fat, and taking all of this a little too well
• • There is also a women in all black clothing, late thirties, jet black hair who works for an unknown agency. She is the one who reveals information throughout the story, such as the origin of the monsters and in the end she wants him to push the button
• • He is fundamentally conflicted because he doesn’t know if pushing the button and starting a nuclear holocaust across the world will kill all the monsters or just make things a whole lot worse
• • There are monsters, called the Lurkers, trying to break into the bunker but I don’t want any images of them, but it adds to the sense of random panic in the room
• The front cover needs to have Larry, the main character, the background of the bunker, the big red button that he’s sitting down and leaning over with a look of despair. The rest of the description can either be on the front or perhaps on the back of the cover.
• I have included below the book synopsis and also more detail about the last story which might help to form more of a picture of what is happening.
