University campus organization needs a logo design

C'est ce que GCL recherchait dans leur logo design

Gator Christian Life (gatorchristianlife.com) is a Christian student organization at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Our mission statement is, "Bringing college students to Jesus Christ and preparing them for a lifetime of service."
We would like a logo that includes an alligator, the state of FL, the letters "GCL", and ripples that emanate from where Gainesville is located in FL (these ripples could also look like an alligator's skin). The ripple effect would symbolize an ongoing process of students graduating and leaving Gainesville to make disciples in places beyond. The colors will be shades of green, possibly highlighted with orange and royal blue. Ideally we want it to look minimalistic, not too busy.
Thoughts about the attached files: GCL1: the gator looks too cartoony, "GCL" isn't strategically placed, there are no ripples. GCL2: "GCL" seems to be too separated from the Florida outline, the gator looks too cartoony and too subtle, the ripples are not p… Voir plus
