We need a new logo design for an existing retirement community located on the beach in Virginia Beach, Virginia called Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay. This community is one of the finest communities of its type in the country and has an over 33 year history as the place to live for those who plan ahead for the best retirement. The two 12 story towers of apartments also provide space for two indoor pools, three dining venues, croquet and bocce courts, walking paths and easy beach access. This community also includes on-site long term healthcare accommodations in the form of assisted living, nursing care and memory support for those who may develop a need for those services. There is a tension in the image of the community as a place to live versus a place to be cared for that the best logo will successfully lean towards the residential retirement communities (think Del Webb's Sun City communities) rather than the safety net of healthcare. This community is also a not-for-profit entity that is affiliated with the Episcopal and Presbyterian Church. All faiths are welcome here, so direct references to faith are not encouraged. We would like to see designs that use the colors blue and green (water, oceans). The final design should convey the energy of the water, the beachfront location and the great strength and stability the community enjoys and provides to those who call it home. Elements that are encouraged, but not exclusive, are a croquet mallet, starfish and waves. We recommend the artists show more than one symbol in their submissions. Elements that are prohibited are a lighthouse and a sailboat. The words Westminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay should be used in the logo. It is easy, though not a requirement, to represent the words in the logo on two lines versus as one long line. Feel free to look at the current logo and see more about the community at http://www.wcbay.com/.
