Brief de Design de Logo
TASK: De Ras is a Commodity Trading house based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with Regional Offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Jakarta, Johannesburg, etc. They sell various products in different industries from Agriculture to Chemicals and from Forestry to Mining.
De Ras Holdings registered in Bermuda and run by the partnership of a few families is a recently found Company but with very strong ties to the past through the families it’s representing and with the name it’s bearing.
The final design should communicate the following BRAND ATTRIBUTES:
1. Trustworthy
2. Leaders
3. Supportive
4. Experts
5. Honest
6. Respected/ Noble

All, we have picked the final top 4 logos to move forward with revisions early next week. I have notified the selected designers (please check your email) and we will go through 1 round of revisions before selecting the final design.

- The client would like to show traditional European style with modern, updated look. This could mean a highly illustrative "commodity" (your take on Commodity) in tandem with modern type, or traditional serif typography with a more modern symbol treatment. They like the idea of this logo looking formal- (see attached PDF for creative brief). We think the logos we have already presented are too modern/ symbol based. It needs to strike a balance of old-world with an updated look. Maybe something that integrates earth, water, wind fire? Just a thought but please think outside the box.
I have enough examples of marks with "chevrons" so please do not use chevrons in future logo concepts.
They have been receptive to serif typefaces.

- This is fairly open at this time, but they have not been receptive to bold/ symbolic type designs in the past. Please focus on old-world illustrative embellishments, with suggestions of the Netherlands, crests with some modern accents, or possibly organic shapes that look upscale and delicate. Please be able to communicate your reasons for this logo- it MUST have a story or a reason for it's development. P

Please do not take an ordinary swoosh or organic shape and add text... this needs to be thoughtful as it relates to Commodity Trading and "old world family values."
