Brief de Design de Couverture de Livre

Looking for a book cover for my forthcoming novel "The Frankenstein Legacies : Heart of Darkness". The story revolves around a senior in high school as he discovers he is an Absorber. Someone able to bond spirits in their own body which grants them unique abilities. In Sam's case, at least at first, his pinky hosts a ghost which grants him strength and speed with that hand. Guided by a secretive teacher he is recruited in a battle against monsters and creatures at night.

One of the first is a "Creeper", a creature that prowls graveyards at night - described as sort of an octopus though made of vines and with dozens of arms - which basically captures Sam, the protagonist, and lowers him over the top of its head.

Even as Sam battles creatures at night, he is sent the journal of Captain Walton which traces his own journey after the events in the original "Frankenstein" Novel of Mary Shelley. Through it we learn not all the events of that novel were captured accurately. Even as Walton searches for Victor Frankenstein's brother Ernest, we learn more about the "Heart of Darkness".

I've attached my own poor attempt at a cover. Some other ideas to consider is that the "Heart" is actually a physical heart, though at this point would be black and stone like - if you're not interested in the "loving heart" shape.

Other than the author name "Scott Wachtler", I'm open to some different design elements.
