Brief de Design de Logo

This logo is for a new historical fencing school "Scherma School of Defence". The school is a new branch of the Stoccata School of Defence, located in Sydney Australia.

I'm after a logo for the fencing school, that incorporates the name of the school, with emphasis on "Scherma" as the main part of the name.
As this is a school for European Swordsmanship (16th -19th Century Italian systems), I'm looking for a logo that gives an Old World / traditional impression, but also presents as a professional martial arts school.

The logo will be used on website, correspondence etc, and will also be used for embroidered badges for fencing jackets, printed on t-shirts etc. Thus a logo that could be screen printed as a single colour would be preferred.
