Brief de Design de Logo
I'm launching a new micro-documentary filmmaking business -- DeningerStories.com.
The subjects (my potential clients) will be (1) people, (2) small businesses and (3) non-profit community groups. I will not be serving large businesses. DeningerStories.com will be regional, not national.
DeningerStories.com will interview PEOPLE in their spaces with broadcast-quality video and audio equipment, then create 2- to 5-minute documentaries about key stories that have occurred in the past, or are now happening.
Thus the tagline: "Share Your Past. Share Your Now."
The goal is to help them capture and share stories (a) they might not otherwise tell or (b) stories about how they're feeling now as a gift to their "future selves" five, 10 and 25 years from now.
Example personal micro-documentaries:
* experience serving in the Middle East
* thoughts as a couple prepares to marry
I also will interview SMALL BUSINESSES/NON-PROFITS in the same way. The goal is to help them share their essential stories as a means to grow their businesses or expand their reach to spur awareness and action.
THE LOGO DESIGN should communicate:
* micro-documentaries are unique and are real, often personal stories
* energy and enthusiasm
* creativity and innnovation
* approachability and affordability
* cinematic and professional, but not slick and commercial-TV production (these are not local-TV segments or spots for mattress stores or used cars).
THE LOGO USE:
* my website
* e-mail marketing
* business cards
* promotional items, including T-shirts, flash storage, other items.
LOGO PARAMETERS:
* Can be vertical or horizontal (although a horizontal logo likely suites my long-ish last name and the tagline).
* One or two PMS colors
* Can be B&W
* Can be reversed
* Can be scaled
Mises à jour
Thank you to everyone's contributions to date! I really appreciate the efforts, and I'm confident I will select a design through this process.
A few points:
* I am branding myself and my name with DeningerStories.com, but the entire micro-documentary filmmaking process is collaborative with the subject (the client). It would be optimal to "equalize" the DeningerStories.com and the tagline, or at least significantly strengthen the tagline. One design features an object (that to me) suggests pieces coming together -- part of them, and part of me, perhaps. Or the pieces of their story. That is going in the right direction.
* Overall, several designs have included an object or symbol to represent or suggest the micro-documentary business at a glance. That is going in the right direction.
* I want to emphasize my ability to document their life or business stories. I am a journalist, storyteller and skilled craftsperson. I am a filmmaker. Help me show that with the logo.
I like this -- http://www.micro-documentaries.com/ . At the same time, this San Francisco company's scope and work are both national and international. My reach will be more modest, as are my tools.
* Unlike a TV station or distribution channel (like YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook), my focus isn't just to produce a thing. Again, the process ideally is a collaborative, rewarding and even emotionally moving experience for the subject. One design features a symbol that suggests playing the micro-documentary. It's a stylized play button. I VERY MUCH like it in that it's a strong, energetic, modern symbol. It also very effectively captures that there are smaller stories and larger stories for people, businesses and non-profits to tell. However, the process isn't just about pushing play. It's about telling, documenting, crafting and then sharing with friends, family and community.
Thanks!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Hello to all -- I think we're on our way, but there's still work to be done on the designs. Continuing through early next week should help. If you're still interested, or new to the project, a sincere THANK YOU.
Please read again through the creative brief and the additional notes I supplied last weekend. The additional note really focuses in on my vision. Also: Please proof for spelling. It is DeningerStories.com. The tagline "Share Your Past. Share Your Now." is vital, too.
Best,
Patrick
