Brief de Design de Logo

Our parent company needs a logo design for one of our divisions called GEMs. GEMs is a private high school placement program for minorities. Our target market are parents and students in the 8th grade. The design need to include gemstones and colors red gold purple and green deep rich colors

I have included a sample of a design that I would like to use. The sample needs some work. I would like to use a different front for the text Greater Educational Milestones (maybe the same front as the parent logo font). The kids are too young. I would like to use three students holding books that are older (sample image attached) would prefer to find hispanic and afro american students. Any other suggested changes for this design are welcome
