Brief de Design Application
I have a very basic math iPhone app targeted towards young children. I need a fun and artistic design for the app. It is currently a simple 3 screen application. It is currently using basic controls to perform the functions, and alert dialog boxes to indicate correct or incorrect responses. I need to replace those with something fun, or, have a new design proposed that is far better, but still keeps the application easy for children to do simple math problems. The design needs to be something that keeps them interested and wanting to keep playing and striving to get the "next correct answer and receive an award or reward".
Unfortunately the app doesn't have a name, and our name of "Math App" isn't all that fun. Please suggest something.
Currently its a simple 3 screen application and works as follows:
First screen (setup):
- Choose problem type. Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication or Division, or a mixture or addition/subtraction, or a mixture multiplication of division.
-Choose largest Addend (highest number to use in the randomly generated problems)
- Choose sound on/off (currently simple clicks/beeps/and a few happy sounding "Correct!" or sad "Incorrect" sounds.
- Choose number of questions per-round.
Second screen (answer):
This is the answer screen. See the problem presented, type an answer and press the [Answer] button.
- It shows the number of problems total, the # correct/incorrect, and an exit button to quit and go back to the first screen.
- The “Del” and “Answer” buttons (see attached) on Screen 2’s keyboard need to use a universal Delete or Backspace symbol in place of the “Del” text, and an Enter or Return Symbol in place of the word “Answer”. This will be better when it comes time to translate the application to other languages. Use of standard iPhone symbols is preferred.
Third screen (stats):
This screen keeps track of history for the current session. Number of "rounds" played, correct, incorrect, percentage. This needs to be something fun, and somehow encouraging to keep trying, playing, and learning.
- The stats page will show the number Questions played total, The number of correct answered, and the percentage correct. The stats page will also have a “Reset” button that lets the player reset all the history of answers to zero. It will store the Addition and Subtraction scores separately from the Multiplication and Division scores.
- The player needs a way to toggle between the two different scores, and a visual way to see which set of scores the screen is displaying.
- The same layout is used, just different scores depending on if they're viewing the addition & subtraction scores, or the multiplication or division scores.
- The percent indicator could be a graphic “Progress bar” to indicate how many are correct compared to the total. Remember, this is for children, and they may or may not know what “90%” means.

Exigences
Doit avoir
- The submission must have an app icon.
The submission must have 3 screens as described in the requirements.
The design and graphics must meet the iOS requirements.
The graphics need be created in adobe illustrator (vector format) so that we can resize and reuse as needed for all marketing material and on the website.
We'd like all the "number" graphics be supplied individually, for example "0-9" as separate graphic files, so we can programatically use them as needed in the application.
The app layout needs to have room for, and accomodate, iAds at either the top or bottom of the screen.
Bien d'avoir
- It would be nice to have an "about" screen, we need a basic logo for our company iTechLoft, LLC that makes this Math App.
The app design could have either a chalkboard scribble look, or something humorous. Simple animations of characters popping or sliding in and out of the screen, etc.. We're not looking for anything complex animation wise, but something to work with would be nice that doesn't require complex 3d programming. (we're beginners just trying to make an app that's fun for kids to do some simple math on and be rewarded and challenged to keep playing)
