Arizona Bridge to Independent living (ABIL) is considering what options exist to rebrand the organization. One initial step is to develop a new logo. (Website: www.abil.org)
ABIL is a 30 year old non-profit organization. It serves the needs of people with disabilities in the state of Arizona (USA). It is one of the largest of over 500 independent living centers in the country. ABIL advocates personal responsibility – by, and for, people with disabilities – as a means to independence.
ABIL provides many services to a diverse community. This includes employment, sports, recreation, leisure, training and advocacy. ABIL’s existing logo was designed to portray the independence a person with a disability can achieve.
ABIL seeks a new logo that is much more simple. The logo need not show an individual in a wheelchair but we seek something that the community recognizes and relates to people with disabilities. We are looking for a design that portrays our leadership in the community, our vision and yet also gives the impression that ABIL is a resource for all people to call upon.
ABIL is involved in numerous events and programs that include marketing and advertising. We seek a design that is immediately recognizable and distinguishable. The design should be no more than 2 primary colors. Consideration will be given to designs that could be printed all black or all white to suite a particular campaign.
The logo could incorporate elements of the previous logo or it can be completely different. Please avoid any design that uses the universal accessibility figure (blue stick figure in wheelchair facing to the right), such as can be seen in parking lots or bathrooms.
The logo may or may not include the acronym “ABIL” within the design, If it is not included, it should be shown to the side or below in a bold highly legible font.

- The logo should be simple. Creative but simple. Imagine the logo on a hat, or shirt. It must be recognizable.

- Please consider our current logo. Too many colors, too complex. It conveys the message of a person moving on in life, but it needs to be far more simplistic.
