Brief de Design de Logo

Pollstars is a new UK market research company. The name Pollstars implies "we are excellent at polls". It's also a pun on Pole Star, the ancient method of finding the right direction before satnav.

Our brand personality is: fresh, un-fussy, practical, friendly, good people to deal with, reliable, straightforward.

The name is POLLSTARS (all one word, we're flexible about caps and lower case), and the strap-line is "LOCAL POLLS FOR LOCAL ORGANISATIONS".

I also want some stars (obviously), and have in mind a group of seven stars based on the constellation Ursa MInor (aka Little Dipper). The pole star is the brightest star in this constellation.

The stars element of the identity needs to look good on BOTH a black or night-sky-blue background AND a white background (I'm thinking ahead to stationery -- another project -- and the website).

The stars/ constellation will be used small on headed paper, biz cards, website pages, and very large on the web site homepage, where each star will be a link to a section of the site. (That's the next project!).

I'd like each star to be a different colour (subtle,dusky colours, not primaries or pastels). Individual coloured stars (using the same colours as the logo) will also be as bullet points on the website, proposals, reports and other documents

The star symbol, name and strap line should work together as a single item, but also be able to be separated as required into Name+Strapline only or the star symbol on its own.

Marché(s) Cible(s)

The target market is marketing, planning and strategy managers in any of the following types of organisations: Local city councils, local police services, local health providers, local small and medium-size businesses serving the local public, local newspapers, radio and TV stations. All of these are organisations will comission local polls among local residents. All of these client organisations are working on very tight budgets., so the logo needs to say "sensible costs" rather than extravagance.
