Brief de Design Graphique

We are looking for a royal crest to be designed for our fictitious country "The kingdom of Akaroa"

Akaroa is a small seaside resort town located in New Zealand, heavily dependant on tourism.

We are looking to differentiate ourselves even further by declaring independence from from our mother state "New Zealand". All tongue in cheek of course (or is it).

The Crest will be the mainstay and most immediately recognised symbol of the project and will be incorporated into a large number of commercial applications (tshirts mugs, passport stamp etc).

the Crest it self should incorporate elements of the town and its surrounds. The supports to the crest would probably be dolphins rather than lions.

Other possible elements to consider.

-The town sits inside a volcanic crater (one small area has collapsed and allowed the sea to form a sheltered harbour).
-Hectors dolphins the worlds smallest can only be found here.
-A Maori influence in the design should also be incorporated
-Akaroa salmon is a well known favourite.
-This is Lord of the rings country.
-The town was founded by french settlers and has a strong french influence.
The town has 80+ cruise ships per year and is voted number 1 port in New Zealand but the design should not have a cruise ship in it perhaps a large sailing ship representing the french immigrants or a Maori Waka representing native new zealanders.
the town is a the end of the road. It is not on a route or on the way to anywhere else. People must choose to come here.
Surprisingly it is still a very relaxed and tranquill part of the world.

attached is the current coat of arms for new zealand which is not exactly the style we are after but gives an idea as to the type of content.
