Brief de Design de Logo

Need a logo to replace our current one (www.newzealandselfdrivetours.co.nz)
The theme is New Zealand self drive tours and holidays but we want to now extend the company image to - 'the original self drive touring company' or something along those lines. We are changing the colour scheme on our site and planning new layout so need a log that can adapt to a few colour schemes. Need landscape and portrait versions. The overall feel needs to be relevant to New Zealand (without the clichéd silver fern), authoritative as in - reinforces we are the original self drive touring company and modern enough to last the next 4-5 years.
I think sticking with green and blue is preferable but it needs an injection of something else - another colour or unique element to liven it up. i have attached the original (about 5 years old).
