Brief de Design de Brochure

Task Description:

I’m wanting a professionally designed 8 ½' x 11, 3 fold brochure, both sides, to print as my target audience are those people who primarily don’t have access to the internet. These items will be dropped off in the mailboxes of all households in the city.

However I do have a web site www.yournextmayor.ca where I would like to have it as a document that can be down loaded.

This is my first foray into political office and my message needs to be clear, concise and easy to understand. The brochure should be a bit conservative yet be warm and inviting. I’ve selected two pictures that I think make sense under their respective headings, but I'm open to suggestions.I need to update my picture for the front cover.

There is the possibility of having T shirts and business cards made up, which would be in essence a simpler version of the brochure so please keep this in mind. I ask that you work with me and I will compensate you accordingly for the extras should they be required. You may want to consider making the Your Next Mayor into a logo as we own all the web extensions and have applied for copyright protection for branding purposes.

You may want to look at TD Waterhouse http://www.tdwaterhouse.ca/ , or the Royal Bank of Canada www.royalbank.com as two recognizable colour schemes here in Canada but don’t let that limit your imagination.

The content in the flier should remain intact although I am open to some minor suggestions. As you can see my talents as a graphic artist are limited hence my need for that professional make over that will give it a bit of razzle dazzle and set me out from the other candidates. So use your imagination!!

A Strong Economy

Without a strong economy we can’t afford to pay for social services that we now take for granted.

Although the City is the largest corporation it is unique in the fact that it revenue stream is tied directly to taxation

Without new business and new citizens the burden of taxes will fall increasingly on residential taxpayers.

Our demographics have changed over the years and those changes need to be reflected in the way we tax our citizens.

Our levels of debts and our future commitments need to be effectively communicated to the people that own this city. You the tax payer!!

Currently our debt is 178 million dollars with further commitments of 153 million for homes for the aged and the possibility of 100 million dollar multi purpose facility. How will we pay for this?

New Opportunities

New Beginnings

As a city we need to rekindle that passion that made us the most modern small city in North America at the turn of the century.

That means, if you currently own and operate a business large or small we need your input to improve the efficiency of how we deliver services. No more endless meetings without any results.

If you’re in the planning stages and need assistance, the city will be there to offer support and guidance.

Regional projects are vitality important to the flow of goods and services.

As a Your Next Mayor I have personally spoken to the CEO’s of several new industries that have never even considered Thunder Bay before they received my call. These are leading edge technologies that have the high growth potential. Jobs and opportunities for young and old alike.

Are we open for business absolutely!

A Safe Community

Without a safe community it will be difficult to attract new people and new businesses to our community.

I have a plan that will utilize the resources of the current police force to better facilitate the services that are currently provided.

Incentive programs need to be initiated

in all city departments at the ground level so that  good ideas don’t get lost in bureaucracy.

Seniors and youth are the most vulnerable of all.  I have plan that will identify those groups and make sure that those people receive the benefits that they deserve.

Getting to know

Your Next Mayor

Jeff Irwin is a life long resident of Thunder Bay.

My family has served this community and area for more than 100 years.

  •  John Henry Irwin built and managed the Western Elevator.
  •  Jack Davidson Irwin managed the St. Lawrence Cement facility
  • Mary Long Irwin was past president of the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Haley Irwin is a gold medalist at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Although I have a unique vocation through the Quality Control Council (QCC) and could live and work anywhere in the world I have chosen to remain and work from Thunder Bay.

On average I visit and work with more than 30 different corporations a year. I have a high pressure job as companies rely on my skills and expertise to keep them safe and operational. Solving problems, minimizing costs, maximizing production are challenges I face everyday.

(outside middle column)

 I’m currently involved with

Electrodynamics Inc. a newly created R&D company developing electric propulsion systems for the transit industry. Our research partners consist of faculty and students from Lakehead University.  So I know first hand how difficult it is to start, finance and run a new business in this city.

As Your Next Mayor, my goal is to be mayor for two terms, maximum three. With the implementation of a long term plan we will require a fresh face to step forward to complete the process. I also feel that we should reduce the number of city councilors and use those funds to make those positions full time. Term limits should apply to all elected positions!

Hello:

Thanks to all who made submissions. Yes the photos weren't the best but unfortunately that's was all we had to work with. My apologizes for not responding sooner but my workload has been exhausting to say the least. I will be picking a winner shortly. I'm not sure how the partial payments work. Could one of you comment on that fact.

Sincerely,

Jeff Irwin
