Brief de Design de Logo

Uptown Market is a shopping center in Markham, Ontario. It is part of our portfolio of real estate developments (Times Group Corp). The center is part of our Uptown Markham master community which already has a logo and is adjacent to two condominium projects - RiverPark and RiverWalk. The center is located near the Rouge River Valley and is LEED project - meaning that its green center in all senses. All available at www.uptownmarkham.ca; www.timesgroupcorp.com.

The UPTOWN MARKET requires a creative and inspiring LOGO and tag line. The logo will appear on a large pylon sign on Highway #7 (for drivers to see and know where to turn) atop the Tenant's logos. The logo will be the face of the center on all web based content including the center website and other Times Group websites that are part of Uptown Markham.

The Tenants include Whole Foods Market (anchor), Bed Bath and Beyond, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada, Running Room, Five Guys Burger, Panera Breads, LCBO, Pet Valu, Second Cup (among others). The Tenants are all tier-one and the site is being finished to a first class standard.

We would like to nail down a logo design together with a tag line in time to enter Uptown Market into the ICSC Canadian Shopping Awards. If the winning logo is able to win an ICSC Canadian Shopping Award the compensation amount payable to the designer will be doubled. The deadline for us to submit our marketing design to the ICSC is June 15, 2012.

Updates

Designers - we have received a lot of great designs so far. Excellent and amazing work from all over the world. One key requirement is to ensure that the design would fit a pylon sign/billboard rectangle of 2-3 ft tall 4-6 feet wide nicely (with the Uptown Market text being easily legible from a distance) and to emphasize the emotion of up-scale and green/nature at the same time. Thank you for all your great work so far!

As we go into the last 2 days of the contest a few things to share with the designers:

1) Thanks so much for your designs - each is exceptional and creative
2) Please keep designs coming - the most common issues we have with designs are (a) the design is too similar to existing logos we have available in the brief, (b) the design does not fit the text height proportion needed for an effective pylon sign and (c) the designs don't convey the message from our brief or are not appropriate for a shopping center (many designs look like they would be better suited for web only).

Thank you again and keep the designs coming as we get closer to completion.

    2) fresh air and green (LEED buildings, adjacent to a large park and the Rouge River)

    4) **The logo is to appear on pylon signs and the dimensions of the sign box it will appear on will be about 2.5 feet tall and about 7 feet wide. We would like to ensure that the text are at least 12-16 inches in height so that the text is clearly legible to drivers driving by.
