Background - What is the venture?
Wellness TV Unplugged (WTV Unplugged) is a new venture which will be piloted in Melbourne on Saturday
26 April, 2014. The basic premise is to provide a platform for experts within the wellness sector (Western
& Complementary) to communicate their personal story and their “big idea” about how humans thrive.
In other words, it is a small scale “TED Talks” of the wellbeing world, bringing high quality, cutting-edge
research to health practitioners and the general public. The show involves a panel of three main guests,
who will give a talk on their personal story and “big idea”, and a panel Q&A. The show will open and close
with a musician and be interspersed with live international interviews. It will be hosted by Rohan O’Reilly,
founder of Smarter brains, Smarter minds, and Belinda Cain. It will take place at Weasley Anne in
Northcote in front of a live audience, and will be simultaniously streamed live as a TV program on the net.
Both audiences will be provided with the opportunity to interact with the guests and ask questions.
What’s the aim of the event?
The aim of the event is to provide world-class, innvovative, insightful and thought-provoking information
which helps people “thrive”. It is also to connect people (health professionals and an interested public)
with an array of experts in the field. And it is aimed at reducing the divide between western and eastern
practices.
Who are the target audiences?
There are two key target audiences:
1. An interested general public. This will practically look like 25-40 year old women. They are already
interested in wellbeing (either for themselves or because they have just started a family).
2. Health professionals who are interested in “wellbeing” and connecting with others in the field.
What is the look and feel?
A core premise of the event is that is cutting-edge and truly informative; no fluff. It is raw, organic,
engeregic and fun. It is about thriving and true, glowing happiness. It is also about showcasing real talent
and exceptional people and this extends to the design - we want to showcase something a bit different. A
little edgy and fun.
The feeling is encapsulated by the images included below. The rationale behind including each of these
images is as follows:
1. The smiling man. This photograph captures the true, uninhibited happiness that we wish to
communicate.
2. The Fraincoise Nielly painting. This painting provides an interesting way of capturing that same
happiness and also communicates the same “edginess and fun” of the WTV brand. Note, however, that
if we are to use a portrait, it would be preferable to have a female given they comprise the majority of the
target audience.
3. The Falls 2013 branding. This look and feel might be a fitting creative direction for WTV.
Note that at the present, we do not have a logo for WTV, although are considering using something similar
to MTV.
