Moving Smoothly
Logo brief:
Background:
‘Moving Smoothly’ was established 6 years ago in an effort to help alleviate the stress of moving house.
It comprises of a team of mature, caring, professionally trained women with experience in packing and unpacking people’s homes. The professionally trained team of staff wrap and pack household and personal items practically and carefully into boxes, making it convenient and easy for a removalist to carry and stack. Additionally, if necessary, they then unpack and arrange and organise everything into the client’s new home.
I took over ownership and running of the business 16 months ago and although USP of the business has remained the same, the offer has evolved to include a number of additional services.
What we now do:
• Packing and unpacking, including a full valet service (e.g. making beds, putting away clothes, organising kitchens etc.)
• Styling homes in preparation for sale*
• Garden maintenance for and during the sale process*
• De-cluttering and home organisation (including assisting in downsizing and disposal of unwanted items and donating items to charities)*

There is a new team of staff all essentially with the same caring, professional and practical qualities, but possessing new key skills including backgrounds in interior styling and decorating, art, design and photography, organisational and de-cluttering skills and garden maintenance and landscaping.
(In addition it is possible that MS will expand these skill sets to include cleaning and handyman services in the future.)
What makes us different from our competitors?
• We always visit our clients before commencing a project to get a precise understanding of their needs and requirements.
• We also perform an obligation free quote which assesses the number of boxes required which in turn provides the client with an on-the-spot quote.
• This builds a relationship with the client and enforces a sense of trust and reliability, essentially instilling the perception that we are taking the stress away from the entire moving process.
The Competition:
As far as I am aware, no other packing/unpacking company offers these additional services. There are a number of ‘Home Organisation’ services but they seem to be targeted at the business sector requiring PA type/home organisational services.
The Finishing Touch is Australia’s largest packing and unpacking service operating throughout Australia but does not offer home organisation, styling or gardening maintenance.
Target Markets:
• Mum’s with young children left to manage the moving process
• Business people with limited time available
• The elderly and infirm – possibly downsizing and moving to retirement homes
• Home-owners on a limited budget wishing to optimise the features of their home but not wanting complete makeovers
• Essentially home-owners who find the act of packing and unpacking their homes overwhelming.
Target areas:
Greater Sydney area, concentrating on CBD, Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, Upper and Lower North Shore, Northern Beaches.
Objective:
The existing logo and website (www.movingsmoothly.com.au) was designed to reflect the practical, caring nature of the service and staff with the emphasis on “packing and unpacking homes with a woman’s touch”.
However, it now looks dated and needs to be refreshed to reflect the new services available, whilst also retaining the all-female sense of care and attention and look professional, yet approachable and practical.
Requirements:
To refresh/redesign the current logo:
• To reflect the wider array of services now available
• Review the colour palette. (Possibly using 2 but no more than 3 colours – possibly retaining the use of pink in some way??)
• Retain the ‘all-female’ proposition
• To reflect the ‘styling’ aspect – e.g. have a more contemporary feel
• Possible inclusion of an image or icon?
Tone of voice:
Female, caring, professional, approachable, understanding, trustworthy, enthusiastic, efficient, reputable, cost-effective, knowledgeable, advising, calm, experienced, stylish, stress-relieving, one stop shop.
Logo uses:
• Stationery – letterhead, business cards, email signatures
• Flyers, promotional literature
• Website
• Uniforms (Aprons/shirts)
• Car livery (the logo is required to be reproduced onto magnetic decals for cars/utes. Possibly be redesigned into a roundel for easy attachment and removal??)
Proposition:
Currently – “Packing and unpacking with a woman’s touch”
Now – “Pack, style, organise and de-clutter with a woman’s touch”

When selling a property, it’s important to highlight the features, while downplaying the negatives.
At Moving Smoothly we believe that most properties can be enhanced using existing furniture and furnishings. This saves money on costly rental items but also makes the property more practical to live in during the sale process.
Through a process of de-cluttering, re-configuring room layouts and adding a few key props and accessories (and possibly adjusting lighting and doing a few minor repairs), Moving Smoothly can transform a property into an inviting space to ensure potential buyers can visualise a property’s potential.

Moving Smoothly provides a totally holistic approach to de-cluttering and home organising in order to create a calm and balanced environment to live and work in. We take into account the entire situation, listening carefully to the client’s priorities and wishes and customising our services to their needs.
We live in a society that regularly accumulates “stuff” and for many of us it is hard to cull as we collect. This often results in surfaces, cupboards, spare rooms, garages and sheds being used as a dumping ground and filled to the brim with years of items that are hard to shift.
At Moving Smoothly, we help enable our clients make decisions on what items are important and what to keep, what to give to their chosen charity or just discard. We are aware that for some it is an emotional and overwhelming task and we are always sensitive and respectful to our client’s feelings.
Whether you are downsizing, moving or just making space, the women at Moving Smoothly are happy to assist in giving you better clarity and perspective in your home or work environment.

As well as styling and organising your home, we can also prepare your garden for the all important real estate photography. And to make sure that your garden continues to look its best we can maintain it throughout the sale period.

- Hedge trimming and shaping
- Clearing paving, decks, paths and driveways
- Mulching garden beds including supply and spread and hosing down for photography
- Raking lawns (Lawn mowing TBA)
- Seasonal planting for best effect
- Pot plant care and placement
- Sweeping, tidying and preparing rubbish for removal
- Placing garden furniture and features to best effect.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: I have extended the date of this project slightly as although I like some of the designs already submitted, I am really looking for something that reflects the new services (in particular the styling element). I would really prefer a more contemporary - even funky/edgy look and feel.
