Business name:
The 3D Printing Workshop
Tagline:
Learn. Design. Print.
ABOUT THE BUSINESS
The 3D Printing Workshop is a friendly and accessible Tasmanian business helping individuals, community organisations and businesses discover the practical possibilities of 3D printing.
We want to make 3D printing approachable for everyone—not only experienced designers, engineers or technology enthusiasts. Our customers may include complete beginners, community groups, people with disabilities, retirees, schools, small businesses, inventors and anyone with an idea they would like to bring to life.
The business has four main areas:
Printing
Producing custom items, replacement parts, prototypes, short production runs and practical solutions for individuals and businesses.
Training
Providing beginner-friendly 3D printing courses, demonstrations and design training. We want people to feel comfortable learning, experimenting and developing new skills.
Designing
Helping customers turn an idea, sketch, existing component or problem into a printable 3D model.
Servicing
Helping customers and organisations set up, maintain and troubleshoot their 3D printers so they can use them confidently and reliably.
BRAND PERSONALITY
The brand should feel:
Friendly and welcoming
Approachable for complete beginners
Bold, fresh and memorable
Creative and inventive
Practical and capable
Modern without feeling overly technical
Professional enough for business customers
Inclusive and gender-neutral
Community-minded and educational
We do not want the business to look intimidating, industrial, aggressively masculine or aimed exclusively at hardcore technology enthusiasts.
LOGO DIRECTION
We are looking for a bold, distinctive logo that represents 3D Printing Workshop as a place where people can learn, create, solve problems and bring ideas to life.
The logo should ideally include a recognisable graphic element or brand mark as well as the full business name. It should remain identifiable when used by itself as a Facebook profile picture, social media icon, website favicon, sticker or product label.
The design may draw inspiration from ideas such as:
An object being created layer by layer
A simple 3D form or cube
The transition from an idea or design into a finished object
A welcoming workshop or creative space
Making, learning and problem-solving
The four connected areas of printing, training, designing and servicing
These are creative starting points rather than compulsory elements. We welcome original concepts that communicate the business more effectively.
Please avoid generic clip-art-style 3D printer illustrations. We also want to avoid a logo that is excessively detailed, mechanical or dependent on tiny printing-nozzle details that will disappear at small sizes.
COLOUR DIRECTION
Orange must not be used anywhere in the logo or brand colour palette.
We would like a fresh, bold and gender-neutral colour scheme.
The colours should feel creative and energetic while still looking professional. The logo must also work effectively:
In full colour
In black and white
On both light and dark backgrounds
At very small sizes
On printed products, clothing, signs and social media
TYPOGRAPHY
Typography should be clear, modern and highly readable. It can have some personality, but it should not look childish, overly futuristic or difficult to read.
TAGLINE
The tagline is:
Learn. Design. Print.
Please provide versions of the logo both with and without the tagline. The tagline should complement the logo without becoming essential to recognising the brand.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The identity needs to appeal to several groups:
People completely new to 3D printing
Community houses and community organisations
Schools, educators and training providers
Retirees and lifelong learners
People with disabilities seeking creative and practical independence
Small businesses requiring prototypes, replacement components or short production runs
Makers, hobbyists and inventors
Organisations purchasing printers, training and ongoing support
REQUIRED DELIVERABLES
We require a complete, practical branding package containing:
Primary horizontal logo
Stacked or compact logo
Logo with the tagline
Logo without the tagline
Standalone brand mark or social media icon
Full-colour versions
Black, white and single-colour versions
Versions suitable for light and dark backgrounds
Editable vector source files: AI, EPS and SVG
High-resolution PDF and PNG files
Transparent-background PNG files
JPG versions
Colour palette with HEX, RGB and CMYK values
Font names and licensing information
A basic brand style guide covering spacing, colours and correct logo use
Facebook profile image
Facebook cover image
Instagram profile image
LinkedIn profile and banner images
Editable social media post templates, preferably in Canva
Website favicon
Email signature graphic
Print-ready artwork suitable for business cards, signage, stickers and clothing
SOCIAL MEDIA STYLE
The social media assets should look consistent with the logo and give us a reusable visual style for:
Course announcements
Finished product showcases
Before-and-after design projects
Printer servicing and support
Business prototyping services
Community workshops
General educational posts
The templates should be simple enough for us to update ourselves in Canva.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The finished identity should make someone unfamiliar with 3D printing think:
“This looks interesting, welcoming and easy to approach.”
At the same time, a business customer should think:
“This is a capable and professional company that can design, manufacture, train and provide ongoing support.”
Above all, the identity should capture the idea that 3D Printing Workshop helps ordinary people and organisations move from curiosity or a practical problem to knowledge, design and a finished result.
