Brief de Design de Logo

I am looking to have a logo designed for the Marin Middle School Athletic League. The acronym is MMAL. I am not sure what colors would be best to design logo so I am open for ideas. Some say blue and yellow might be a good pair.
Below is the description of what the league does.
The purpose of the MMAL is to promote, coordinate, and regulate interscholastic athletic activities among member middle schools in a manner that:
Middle school athletics are an extension of the school experience and should support academic engagement and positive youth development.
