Hi, could you please share the exact trim size of the book? The current cover seems to be designed at 8.5 x 11 inches. Thank you!

Greetings Designers and Art Directors of possible cover designs for my forthcoming book, "The Art of Client Service!"

I hope all of you are doing well.

Many thanks for your submissions; I received more than 100 from some 30-plus of you. Many are VERY impressive; I deeply appreciate the time and effort you devoted to this.

Choosing the winning cover design is a bit like winning the World Cup; there are many extraordinary teams, but there only can be one winner.

The same is true here: there are many excellent submissions, but there only can be one, making my choice nothing if not a challenge. That choice is complicated by the reality that the winning design must not only satisfy me, but also my editor at John Wiley & Sons, which as publisher, has final say on the cover design, although my opinion will have tremendous influence on the outcome (Wiley is unlikely to choose a design I do not support).

Here is my plan to arrive at a final choice: I will spend the next several days, extending into next week, winnowing down the selections to a more manageable number. By week's end I then submit my short list of cover options -- it could be as few as three or as many as ten -- to my editor; we then will arrive at a final decision.

As I work through the options, I might reach out to some of you with aq question or possibly a concern, such as asking if we can modify the color pallette or adjust the typography. I will keep these requests to an absolute minimum, so if you don't hear from me, you need not worry.

If all goes as planned, I will notify the winner and all others by the week of March 16.

In the meantime, I ask for your patience as I work towards what will be a difficult choice.

Many thanks again for your contributions!

Best,

Robert

Good evening designers/art directors! (or good morning, if you live outside the U.S.),

I hope all of you are doing well.

Many thanks again for your contributions; I admit it was a challenge to narrow down the more than 100 submissions I received to a more manageable number. I've done this; there now are 12 what you might call "semi-finalists," with three I've designated as "finalists." I've emailed these twelve to my editor at Wiley, asking him to respond by week's end.

Assuming I hear from him, I should have a decision for you by end of day Friday, or, worst case, by early next week.

Many thanks for your patience!

Best,

Robert

Greetings Contest participants!

I hope all of you are doing well.

The hardest thing a contest sponsor has to do is pick a winner, especially when there are so many strong submissions from which to choose.

This is the case here: there were many strong designs, making the selection very challenging. After long and serious consideration, I, along with my publisher, selected a submission from "creativeoutline" as the winner.

Many thanks again for all your efforts. If any of you would like specific feedback on the cover designs you submitted, email me; I will do my best to respond.

Best,

Robert
