Brief de Design de Covering de Véhicule
English brief attached
This project accompanies our “new life”: a round-the-world sailing trip at 60 for 3 to 5 years. We are looking for a designer to create:
• The logo of our boat “Wang'ap” (symbol + typography). (with apostrophe)
• Decoration of the hulls (vinyl stickers).
• The decoration of the masthead.
Context
Our Outremer 52 catamaran (15.71 m x 7.89 m, 23 m mast) will be delivered in May 2026. It will be named Wang'ap, inspired by the Korean hwang'ap which means:
• “Rebirth at 60”, marking the beginning of a cycle in the Korean calendar and symbolizing a “new beginning”.
• “Happy meeting / reunion”
These two dimensions resonate deeply with our project: we have just turned 60, and this world tour by catamaran represents for us both a new life beginning and a journey rich in encounters.
Expected deliverables
• Design of hull decoration + masthead and logo
• Variations: main logo, monochrome logo, symbol alone. The logo must be able to be declined with the name Wang'ap and without the name Wang'ap
• Vector AI files + mock-ups integrated on model.
Sought-after style
• Minimalist but worked, avoid any overload
• Elegant, timeless. Between sporty and poetic.
• Possible symbolism: globe (travel, cycle, world), stars/constellations (navigation, poetry, The Little Prince, a book by Antoine de St-Exupéry, a cult in our family and a source of poetic symbolism for this project), meetings, dolphin, symbol of freedom and play, cycle of life, travel.
• Modern, sober typography, not necessarily readable from afar; the most important thing is to have good proportions and not look like an advertising boat. for example rounded sans-serif font
• The decoration of the 2 hulls and the masthead must enhance the elegant and sporty line of the Outremer 52 + Remain sober, classy and timeless, in keeping with our personal history and our adventure around the world + Integrate harmoniously with the curved shapes of the white hulls (see model).
• 2 Examples of hull decoration that you could take and adjust (seb proposal file and Shearwater example)
• NB: We would like the name of the boat to appear with discreet, balanced and elegant proportions with the logo on the 2 hulls of the catamaran
Technical constraints
• Present your design on the attached Outremer 52 scale model.
• Manufacture and installation in vinyl stickering by the Outremer shipyard (no painting).
• Colors from the Avery Dennison Opaque Signage Films (shell) + Supreme Films (masthead) overseas color chart. options to choose from: Petrol Gloss, Turquoise Gloss, Teal Gloss or your own suggestion, always in the blue range
• The Outremer 52 logo must be on the hull, either on the bow or on the skirt depending on where we position our own Wang'ap logo
• At the masthead, we must choose either a single color from the Avery SUPREME color chart, or a mix of colors
• The name of the boat, as well as the home port, will be indicated on the steps of the starboard skirt
Important
The dominant color chosen will be used for the lazybag, the anti-UV strip of the sails and the design at the top of the mast.
Logo size & proportions
Please pay particular attention to proportions: we seek elegance, not excess. The design must highlight the beauty of the boat, without dominating it.”
The boat logo and name should not be imposing. We want a discreet, elegant and harmonious presence, which enhances the lines of the catamaran without overwhelming them.
The name and logo do not necessarily have to be readable from a distance and have balanced proportions, avoiding any “advertising” or “too big a sticker” effect.
The logo should fit into the decor as a subtle graphic element, not as the dominant element.
Highlighting the boat, not the logo
The Outremer 52 has an elegant and sporty line: the design must emphasize this elegance.
We are not looking for a monumental logo, but a refined decoration that gives personality to the boat while respecting its sobriety.
Examples of what we don't want
No logo occupying a large part of the hull.
No excessive typography.
No “trademark” style.

Logo size & proportions
• The logo and boat name should remain discreet, elegant, and in harmony with the catamaran's lines — never oversized or overwhelming.
• They don't need to be readable from a long distance; what matters is that they feel balanced and well-proportioned, without giving the impression of an advertisement or a giant sticker.
• The logo should act as a subtle design element, blending into the overall aesthetic rather than dominating it.
Focus on the boat, not the logo
• The Outremer 52 has sleek, sporty lines that should be highlighted and enhanced through the design.
• We are looking for a refined and timeless decoration that adds character to the boat, not a monumental logo.
What we don't want
• A logo taking up a large section of the hull.
• Oversized or heavy typography.
• A design that looks like a commercial brand or advertising graphic.
