Brief de Design Graphique
I am requesting a set of five illustrations to visually demonstrate why water builds up pressure around homes built in dense clay soils during periods of heavy rain. These images will be used for homeowner education and must be clear, professional, and sequential.
Image Requirements:
Image One – The Clay Bowl Theory (1940s–1950s Suburbia) Image of the house should represent that of post war suburbian construction because part of the sales demo relates to the age of the foundation.
Represent the early days of Long Island suburbia.
Show a simple excavation in the ground, illustrating the “clay bowl” effect.
This should be a clean image of a hole in the ground surrounded by clay soil.
If possible, a 3D-style rendering should be used for this image so the “bowl” shape is easy to visualize.
Image Two – Foundation and footing in the clay bowl.
Depict a foundation with a basement slab placed at the bottom of the bowl.
The soil has been backfilled around the foundation, forming the “bowl” around the structure.
Important: Use a contrasting color scheme so customers can see the difference between the natural hardpan clay and the backfilled material.
Image Three – Weather and Water Flow
Include the house, foundation, and inclement weather (rainfall).
Show water traveling through natural veins in the soil, moving toward the footing.
Image Four – Basement Flooding
Illustrate the basement interior as water seeps through the walls and floor, accumulating inside.
Emphasize how hydrostatic pressure causes infiltration.
Image Five – Controlled Water Management
Show water being captured and redirected by an interior drainage system and sump pump.
The sump system should clearly discharge water safely away from the basement, preventing flooding.
Notes:
Please keep the style consistent across all five illustrations.
The sequence should clearly flow from one stage to the next, so a homeowner can easily understand the progression of the problem and the solution.
The focus should be on clarity and educational impact. If you feel that a 3D image would best describe the clay bowl theory,
