Tattoo Design - Forearm - California
Brief de Design de Tatouage
Hi there,
I was looking for a tattoo design that encapsulates the spirit of California and the many faces it has to offer.
There’s a couple of things I associate with CA and I tried to group them in categories. All of them hold a special place in my heart.
* Entertainment: escapism, film as well as music. Invoking new ideas, marvelling at ideas the human mind can bring to life
* the walk of fame, Hollywood in general, Universal Studios, The Warner Brothers Watertower, Disneyland, etc.
* Nature: whilst the city life is a big part of CA you can just drive 2 hours and enjoy unparalleled views, hiking trails, serene places of quiet and wildlife
* all the national parks (especially Yosemite and the coastline of Big Sur), deserts, beaches, mountains
* Man made landmarks: icons that everyone has seem in one form or another that are a testament to what we can achieve
* eg the Golden Gate Bridge, the Hollywood sign, Venice beach (especially the skate park during sunset), Carmel by the sea (the whole Monterey region)
* The general vibe: of all the cities I’ve visited in the US I’ve loved San Francisco the most. Probably because of its slightly alternative hippie culture while still being close to forward-looking cities like the Silicone Valley.
As I’m not a designer at all I don’t know what kind of information helps you as the artist to get a good feeling for what I’m looking for. Thus here are some additional remarks to make my vision a little clearer:
- I don’t like it to be too “touristy” - so no direct depiction of the walk of fame, Golden Gate Bridge, Mickey Mouse, etc. as it’s too blatant. Those are just examples to clarify the vibe I’m looking for :-)
- The categories mentioned above don’t have to be all included. If say the coastline of Big Sur makes for a great motive put that in the center and just allude to the rest. Whatever works from a designers perspective
- As my current tattoos are all solid “one pieces” I’d like this one to appear as a one piece too. So if different elements are included I’d love for them to not be too fragmented and have a nice flow between between them
A little about me and the style I’m looking for: I’m a 32 year old male and this will be my fifth tattoo. I’ve attached photos of the ink I already have for your reference. The style should be Black and Grey or Blackwork to fit with the rest.
The placement will be on my forearm. My other two tattoos on my forearms are somewhat symmetrical, for this one I I’d like it not to be triangular/symmetrical. So feel free to design it as you please. I’ve attached a photo of the two tats on my forearm just for reference.
As I’m sadly not scheduled to head to CA anytime soon I’ll get the tattoo done by a local artist around my hometown. I’d like to give him this design as a starting point as I haven’t found anything online resembling what I’m looking for.
Feel free to ask me any question that might help you to get more of an idea what I’m looking for. Maybe this reaches a designer that resides in California, that would be a very nice bonus.
And please don’t feel like you have to cram everything I’ve mentioned into the design. I tried to provide as much detail as I can to convey what I’m looking for.
Looking forward to your ideas!
