The AO Alliance recently held a pivotal investigators' meeting in Addis Ababa, bringing together pediatric trauma and orthopedic surgeons from nine centers across Ethiopia. This gathering marked the launch of a groundbreaking randomized clinical trial aimed at improving the treatment of pediatric supracondylar fractures in low-resource settings. Dr Mengistu Mengesha, the lead investigator, outlined the trial’s objectives with enthusiasm, highlighting its potential to standardize pediatric orthopedic care in the region. The trial will compare a conservative treatment method with a surgical intervention to determine the most effective and sustainable approach for treating these fractures, which are common and often complicated in children.
