Hello everyone!

First, we'd like to thank you for all of your hard work in preparing so many wonderful designs to help us with our vision for a timeless logo that will communicate our values to the customers we desire to serve. We've received dozens upon dozens of wonderful design submissions that have helped us identify several elements we prefer, as well as other design features that we would don't prefer. It has truly been a pleasure communicating and revising our vision with you all! At this point, we are about half way to the deadline for submissions and we would like to offer some insight into what we've discovered so far.

Here is a list of design elements that we've discovered we do not want included:
1) No saw blades, axes, or hatchets for this project.
2) We dislike solely wordmark or lettermark designs for this project. While we welcome the inclusion of the name or initials of our business, we will not be selecting any designs that are only wordmark or lettermark as the winner for this project.

Here is a list of design elements that we've discovered we greatly enjoy and would prefer to be included in the final design:
1) We desire pictorial (real-world object) or abstract (conceptual/symbolic) logo designs that incorporate the three elements that are central to our core values as a business: the cross of Christ, a servant's heart, and subtle references to wood or wood grain (either through the use of negative space, textures, or some other design element).
2) We greatly enjoy overall balance in the design, but do not necessarily need it to be symmetrical - we actually enjoy asymmetrical designs that are able to maintain balance.
3) We love simple designs that are not too busy or complicated. We also love the clever use of negative space to incorporate design elements so that the design doesn't appear too busy.
4) If including wordmark (our business name) or lettermark (our business initials), we would prefer them to be separate from the pictorial/abstract design so that they can both be used independently from each other. If including our business name, we also prefer that the "Servant's" and "Heart" be on the same line with the same size and style, then having "Woodworks" being included on a different line with a different size and/or style.
5) We are attracted to designs that appear more hand-drawn with imperfect, naturally-appearing edges over designs that appear machine made with crisp, clean edges.

Finally, we would love to continue receiving original designs and concepts from anyone who wants to submit them! We've also received a number of designs that follow a similar trend and resonate deeply with our values as a business and, for whoever has time and would like to, we would love to see a concept submission from everyone using the following design prompt:
A stylized heart (the heart can be complete, open-ended, or suggested with negative space) with a cross of Christ inside of it; the cross itself is stylized to appear like a chisel that is carving a wood shaving or wood curl from the interior edge of the heart.

Once again, thank you all so much for your wonderful submissions thus far. We look forward to continuing to work with you all as you help us achieve our vision for this logo design!

Sincerely,
The Servant's Heart Woodworks Team
