Brief de Design de Logo

Aunt Betty Cann (ABC) is a cannabis education and coaching organization dedicated to breaking the stigma around cannabis, teaching others how to use the plant as medicine for everything from anxiety to neuropathy, and providing practical knowledge to keep users feeling safe and in control as they learn how cannabis works with their own body.

The concept of “Aunt Betty” comes from my time spent living and working on college campuses in a crisis response/on-call role. One of the first concepts I learned about during my Masters program was “en loco parentis,” a latin term that translates into “in care of the parents.” I immediately likened this to being the “cool aunt,” there to keep you safe, happy, and with the ability to call you out in a way parents can’t always do. Aunts evoke feelings of safety – you can usually go to a real or honorary aunt with questions and seek advice without judgement, knowing they’ll have your back. That is the type of support Aunt Betty Cann strives to provide.

Things I Know I Don’t Want: A logo with green or with a marijuana leaf. I worry about falling into those design tropes just because it’s cannabis.

Things I’d Like to Incorporate: I do love floral prints, and everything I saw on Canva that had simple bits of what looked like hand-drawn flowers or filigree feels very “me,” but also might be a good plant replacement for the pot leaf? I also recognize some people won’t feel the service is for them if they see a bunch of flowers, so I am not set in this.

Color wise, I like the idea of a purple or perhaps reddish-pink, since both do go well with green (you could also suggest another complimentary color to green!) That said, some green is fine.
