Brief de Design de Logo

55,523 people had a spine operation in England during 2017/18. Surgery involves disturbing tissues, nerves and bones and placing metalwork. They can be very painful. Patients often need strong pain relief for three days or more after surgery. Good pain relief helps people get moving sooner and recover quicker. Standard pain relief involves morphine through a drip and other painkillers such as paracetamol during surgery. It is cheap, safe, quite effective for most patients and easy to give, but pain relief could be better for some people. There are two other modern methods for pain relief: (1) injection of a morphine-like drug (opioid) into the spinal fluid at the time of surgery which provides pain relief for many hours after surgery; and, (2) an ultrasound guided pain ‘block’ of numbing, local anaesthetic into the muscles at the back of the spine at the end of an operation. The PRAISE trial will compare these three different approaches in improving patients’ post-operative pain and functional recovery.
This logo will be used on all clinical trials materials (e.g. information leaflets, posters, website, presentations at conferences, newsletters)
