Brief de Design de Logo

Our company is named after a fierce little bird called a shrike. They are a part of the song bird family but their behaviors are those of the raptor family. They are formidable hunters and impressive competitors, often underestimated by opponents. Shrikes are characteristically aggressive, patient, careful and clever. They have exceptional sight and sharp beaks, however, unlike birds of prey, they hunt primarily from a perch (rather than in flight) and sit quietly for long periods to study the ground and surrounding trees. Lacking their own sharp claws, they use thorns or barbed wire to safely store and eat their prey. Some people find this off-putting. I find it enterprising and respect any animal that leverages technology in order to thrive.

Like the shrike, we are not the biggest but we pride ourselves on being tough, smart and hard-working. We sit for many hours every day, surveying material to find our opportunities. We sort stone by stone through thousands of carats to find those few with the special properties to meet our customers' requirements. The work requires patience and a keen eye. We aspire to embody these incredible qualities in the company we are building.

You may be asking, "but what the hell are industrial diamonds?" Industrial diamonds are just regular diamonds that are used in tools and industrial applications for manufacturing. Our business specializes in natural rough diamond, not synthetic, of gem and near-gem qualities. Our suppliers are fancy diamond companies. Our customers are salt of the earth, blue-collar tool-makers.
Both of these groups are generally made up of people who are 2nd, 3rd or more generations in the business. Diamonds have a lot of meaning for these people. There is a lot of prestige that comes with working in our industry. It requires a lot of discretion because the material is coveted and valuable. Trust is an essential component. All business deals are done on a handshake. If you speak the words mazal during a negotiation you better mean it because you finalized a deal. The norms of our business and the legacy of the industry are beloved features. I mention this because any brand will need to pay respect to these traditions and give a nod to its history.

We imagine our brand having a "gentleman hunter" vibe. Our name, Shrike & Thorne, are meant to feel like the names of partners in a long established, reputable law firm. These are not last names however, so I guess I see it as opening the door to being a little modern at the same time and maybe even having a slightly playful undercurrent beneath it's professional exterior.

Our slogan is "Omnem movere lapidem" which translated from Latin means "Leave no stone unturned" It would be cool to work this in.

We're looking for a logo using an image of a shrike that incorporates symbol(s) that represent "industry" like a cogwheel or anvil and also, of course, diamonds. The thorn could be represented by a thorn or barbed wire. Since we use tweezers in our business for sorting, a thorn could likewise be represented as a set of sharp straight tweezers (basically a stick with a sharp point).

I'm sure I'm leaving some important things out since I don't have a lot of experience with these briefs so please let me know what else I can tell your or if you have any questions.

I've included a number of images of shrikes and also two pics of industrial diamonds just to give you an idea of the material we work with. Some of the images of shrikes might be used to create vectors that could form the basis of the logos perhaps. I'm not married to it but I'm not against you doing that either.
Thank you.
