Brief de Web Design

We are building a Google Chrome extension called "Act Now" that helps social movement leaders and advocacy organizations connect with an audience that cares about their cause, and we need to create a more polished website to explain the extension to prospective users. The extension analyzes articles users are reading online and recommends ways they can take action in their local area on the social and political issues they are reading about. For example, if a user is reading about the climate crisis, the extension might display a banner recommending a rally being held by the Sunrise Movement or an opportunity to canvass or phone bank for a pro-Green New Deal political candidate. Organizers with progressive organizations can register for an account on our web portal to start posting actions or events that will then be recommended to users through the browser extension if they are reading a relevant article.

We are planning for an upcoming "soft launch" and would like to create a more polished version of our website. The design should include:
– A user-facing page that that concisely explains how the Chrome extension works and links to the Chrome web store where users can download Act Now.
– An organizer-facing page that outlines the steps involved for organizers to recommend their organization or a specific action to users through Act Now: register for an account, post an action or event, your action or event is recommended to users.
– An HTML/CSS template for the organizer portal that we can then take and populate with Django forms or other Django content. This template should include a top menu bar. We've provided an example of the extremely barebones template used in our prototype as an example (base.html).
– A redesigned or improved logo, including one version designed to be put on a white background and one version designed to go on a background of a darker color (e.g., orange). Our current logo is provided. Feel free to use this as a starting point or design something completely different.

The design should convey themes of solidarity, bringing people together to effect positive change, and hope for a better future. We expect that organizations and users on the platform will be focused on a range of progressive issues, including racial justice, immigration justice, gender equity, LGBTQ+ rights, workers' rights, and addressing the climate crisis and economic inequality.

Currently, the color scheme of our prototype browser extension is centered around the color orange, but we are open to designers' ideas about other possible color schemes.
