Brief de Design de Logo

This logo will be used for a business involved in breeding doodles. It will be front and center on a website where I envision I will create an old timey newspaper look (hence, "standard") but with some modern edge to it. The other meaning to the title is intended to convey the idea of standards that dog breeders adhere to be considered in conformation within a particular breed. There is also some irony to it as doodles are simply treated as mixed breed dogs by any of the prestigious kennel clubs and so are not considered to technically have standards.
I am including a couple of pictures of a Doodle, some as a young puppy and some as an adult as I was thinking of using the head in the logo somehow, not as a picture but maybe as if it was hand drawn in ink. One change would be to have the hair appear to be falling outside of the face so you can see the eyes. I was also thinking a top hat or derby hat might look kind of cute, especially on the older longer haired version, maybe, and complete the overall feel. I've included some links below to give an idea of what I had in mind, so something of that nature, and possibly framed in an oval frame as on the southern standard newspaper image or as otherwise may have been common in that era. The dog mascot will be known as "The Dood". That should be on a plaque or ribbon under the picture.
My initial thought was in basic black and white but I'm open. I like Algerian font and the font on the southern standard newspaper image but again, I'm open. I'm also open to other ideas on other aspects of the project.
