I think the style is too simplistic. The image you sent was not of a Centurion. Quintus should not be depicted in full battle armor since the white cross burned on his chest and scaring is relevant. Using a helmet like those in pictures in the link below reduce the need to do detailed facial features. I assume the bulk of the cover will be symbolic (flames, modern war background or a color pattern) and only the key figures (Quintus and/or Quintus & Mary Beth) will be detailed.

I have been impressed with many of the designs. In reviewing the designs, I have noted that many include images of Roman Warriors in full battle armor of the period. While Quintus is a Roman Centurion, the book takes place in modern times (2023 in USA/Egypt/Taiwan) and he is not dressed in battle armor typical of the Roman Empire except during flashbacks.

I have acquired a shutterstock usage license. Any artwork on shutterstock you can use in your design (this project only) and if I like the images, I will acquire for use with this project.

I have uploaded 2 images I have acquired usage rights for that you may want to consider for your design. One would be for the cover as Quintus and one would be for the back of a future print book of Mary Beth. You do not need to use in your design either of these images. They are only suggestions of my idea of what the characters look like. If you have difficulty obtaining the images I have uploaded, send me a message and we will work together to send them to you in a different manner.

I've only just seen this job listing so I'm going to upload a sketch of where I'm going with the brief but this is not my finished idea, please feel free to give feedback and I will upload a finished render hopefully tomorrow.
