Brief de Web Design

I'd like to collaborate with a web designer-artist to help me reimagine my web presence, Chriselliotts.com. I publish my syndicated news articles on this site and collect email addresses for my weekly email newsletter. I want to maintain the current minimalist look and feel -- simple, uncluttered, intuitive -- while evolving it to the next level of functionality.

I take my inspiration from several nonprofit organizations and news sites. Those include 538, the Texas Tribune, and ProPublica. I want to use those sites as my leitmotif for the new theme, while also adopting some of their features.

• The new theme should be visually appealing and very fast.
  
  I'm looking for the ability to determine a "lead" story and control the content of other story boxes on the front page.
  
  I don't mind using a starter theme such as Underscores (I'm using that for the current version). However, I would prefer to not use an out-of-the-box news theme and simply modify it. I would like the coding to be watertight and error-free and hope to achieve console scores in the 90s.

Bien d'avoir

• I like harmony, balance and Zen. I would like all the elements, including text, ads and social icons to look as if they are built with purpose and thought. It might be necessary to re-imagine or re-interpret the logo.
