Brief de Design de Logo

We grow corn and soybeans in Iowa (USA). We also do metal fabrication/welding and repair.
I want the logo to be relatively simple and neat, just utilizing our last name "Nelson" in some form.
Ideally, I would like a primary logo that just incorporates "Nelson," but then have an option to add underneath/to it either "Farms" or "Fabrication" depending on the application. The color/colors need to be easily changed or universal, because the logo will need to go on different colored vehicles etc.
Ideally, a simple Christian cross would be subtly worked into the design .
