Brief de Web Design

We are moving from Magento2 cart to oscommerce so we need new design and coding. Our web is inkplustoner.com and would like to redesign to look close to 4inkjets.com. Both sites are very similar in design, we need just to make it little bit nicer.
The main thing, here is a message from our IT guy (his name is Jack). Just wanna make sure we are on the same page!

The designer should provide a design that will work with this version
of oscommerce. If it is done correctly, you don't have to worry about
mobile devices because the basic code handles the conversion. So you
are mainly looking for images and/or colors that you are happy with.

You should make it clear to the designer that this is a fluid site,
not a fixed-width one, so their design will have to work in any window
size.

I did a search for ink cartridges to see what other sites, besides the
ones you mentioned, are doing. For the most part, they all do the same
thing. most have an image in the header with the finder box. Here's
one I found that switched the order: https://inkjetcartridges.com/
Noticed the blue part to the left of the finder box. That is just
filler so that the page looks the same on any window size. They do the
same on 4inkjets but in a different order.

So I think, as mentioned previously, that you need an image in the
header. Images grab the attention much more than text. I grabbed an
image from istockphoto.com just to give you an idea 9see the test
site). The image needs to be transparent to look better but I didn't
want to spend much time on it for just an example.
