Brief de Design de Logo

Our group name: GenAP (Genetics and Genomics Analysis Platform)

GenAP is a collaborative project involving 3 Software Development and Analyst teams at two Universities: McGill and Sherbrooke, both located in Quebec, Canada.

Our goal is to offer tools to simplify data access and manipulation to the genetics research community at various levels. This includes:

1- Data Analysis pipelines, analyzing raw data from sequencing instruments and transforming them into something meaningful to the researcher.

2- A packaging system to ease the distribution and installation of such pipelines to other HPC sites (High Performance Computing)

3- Online tools to visualize the data produced, and enable researchers to push their data analysis further.

We need a logo for our Web Portal, which will be the main access point to our services. This logo will be the face of our group, included in our posters, etc.

Exigences

Doit avoir

• The logo should have a modern feeling (in both design and colour scheme) and be light, nothing too complicated.
• The image part of the logo should be separate from the text. This means we could use either the logo with the name, or just the image itself.

Bien d'avoir

• The chosen logo should have a "science" feeling to it. Something that inspires both genetics and computer sciences could be nice.
• Here are a few key themes which could be explored. These are only suggestions, we are opened to any interesting ideas!
• 1- A lot of the data we produce can be represented as "tracks", which are displayed in a tool called the "Genome Browser". See example: http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTracks?db=hg19&position=chr21%3A33031597-33041570
• 2- Our packages, services and tools, as well as user data are stored on Compute Canada servers. Something connected to cloud computing could be explored.
• We would prefer something simple, which also displays nicely if reduced to a small size.
