The Postman is a novel set in England with a filmic theme and characters to appeal to a middle market of readership. Think Guernsey Potato Society, Secret Life of Bees, The Corrections. There are many you could look up in the last ten years that seem wistful but fun, happy but sad too, and with some heartstrings to pull. The book is literary but accessible with a strong male character who is sympathetic but thoughtful rather than high action. Communication is a key theme: the other books are THE LETTER, THE HERALD and THE ANGEL. It's a book your mum might read, or you! A book club type of book, so the cover needs genre and literary elements.
