Brief de Design de Logo

We are looking for a new logo for our church "Willow Grove Baptist Church." Willow Grove is the city we are in. While it is nice to implement a 'Willow Grove' into the logo, they often look depressing and are unrelated to anything spiritual/church or modern. Also, several churches in our area are already using them. We live in a densely populated suburban city area with much diversity. Our church is 65 years old so we have about half our members are older (55+) but I'm a new pastor (34 years old) and looking to reach a younger, modern, generation (target audience).
We value togetherness, people, families, connections, community, and of course God. Some optional colors that would be nice if they work, but not required are green to tie into the willow grove idea and it's a natural color, blue because it is peaceful. These colors could also be ugly or take away from what I'm looking for. Not really set on any particular color scheme.
Our goal or mission statement, like most churches, is to help people connect to God, serve the community, spread the Gospel.

I'm really looking for a custom icon or logo that can sit to the left or above the name. I've also played with using initials WGBC for a lot of things. I've thought about puzzle pieces connecting together, but none of my 25 ideas stood out, looked professional, or will look good in 10 years (basically they suck).

We are not near mountains, or rivers, oceans, and are 25 minutes from skyscrapers so none of those.
Nothing cartoony or goofy.
Nothing generic or one size fits all.
Most importantly, it can't be too busy. I want it to be quick to see, understand, and straight forward.

Update: We are definitely leaning more towards an artistic logo, whether that's an image/drawing or some kind of cool/modern shape that can be made with the lettering.

• No cartoons, doesn't look like every other generic church logo. No rainbows, no doves, oceans, or mountains, or skyscrapers.
