Brief de Design Wordpress

Creation of a WordPress news blog, that will publish links to stories of relevant economic and financial news. Will include a picture with each link and the story headline. current examples with the type of look we are shooting for would include:
www.dailycaller.com (good use of black as a contrast color, banner I provide may be black with reverse text)
www.thinkprogress.com (this is very good as it has a BIG feature story, some smaller headlines, some smaller thumbnails, and then another large feature underneath)
www.dailywire.com
www.techcrunch.com
www.businessinsider.com (this one has a lots of variation in pic sizes, headlines, the site we are looking for does not need this much variation)

• - Slider featuring big stories or most recent stories
• - large thumbnail to accompany each news item, with headline and publication underneath
• - menu with categories (e.g. healthcare, tech, financial, regulation, environment, energy, opinion) etc. I will provide a "final" list after the initial draft is approved, if this is acceptable to the designer. Also since it is a WordPress site I will also assume that the menu can be customized - thank you.
• - social media icons, twitter, facebook (for now)
• Logo/banner header is attached -- this will be updated but please include as placeholder for now. IF the designer would like to
