We are preparing an illustration for a piece in Science! Priority for this graphic is that it is easy to interpret. Attached is our crude mock-up of what we have in mind. The obvious way to enhance this is to replace the boxes with images. For example,1. Instead of the box on the left we might have an image of the Vatican, with the text inside2. the middle box might show a kinship diagram or something indicating a monogamous nuclear family.3. The right box might be brain or head with the psychological shifts inside.
The three plots are not actually coordinated with the specific images, rather they are correlated to the arrows between the images. So the left plot is correlated to the arrow between Catholic Church and Kinship Intensity, the right plot is correlated to the arrow between Kinship Intensity and Psychological Change, and the top center should have an arrow between Catholic Church to Psychological Change (which we now realize we needed to add). So it would probably make the most sense to color code each arrow with its corresponding plot to easily convey this.
The width of the figure cannot be larger than 12.0 cm (4.75 inches or 2 columns). You can search Science Magazine image requirements for more information.

Mises à jour
Hi all,
So that it is easier to update the plots in the figure, I've included EPS files of the three plots. Please feel free to edit their appearance to improve the overall look. I would also like to clarify that we are hoping to stick with the layout we have created in the mock-up, so please keep the layout we have provided.
