Brief de Design de Logo

Need a new logo for our church...the one we have is outdated (BLEH). Not sure if we should modernize it or just go with a whole new one. Color palette... shades of green??? Open to suggestions!
We do abbreviate and have tossed that around... CBC
Things to note/and or confuse you...Our church location is rural but with a more modern looking building. Logos that we have found that we like ... tree with cross in it, leaves, branch, etc. In other words, incorporated "living things". We have also liked the different twists on the emblem logos (CBC)
Again we are perplexed in deciding what is best... modernize what we have or go with something completely different. Would love any direction of what is best.
