Brief de Design de Logo

We need a logo design for a new company based in Canberra, Australia called 'Freedom Built'.
We are two carpenters who have a huge passion for building high density homes.
Our target market would be modern contemporary and simple but effective.

I have attached a prototype, but I believe it is just missing some character and professional graphic design work. I would like the symbol to tie in with the logo more.
I would like to keep the star how it is although play around with different colours in the star. I like these colours (blue, white, black, monument, and maybe incorporate timber or concrete somewhere if possible) although welcome to your sugestions, and also to have a border around the logo.
I would like the have the 'F' in Freedom and the 'B' in built to be larger font and tie into each other.

Happy for additional idea's from yourself if you believe it will make for a better logo.
