Welcome to the Texas State Aquarium, where you’re invited to Discover a Bigger World on an awe-inspiring adventure through land and sea. Travel through the lush jungles and vibrant coral reefs of the Yucatan Peninsula in Caribbean Journey, where you’ll encounter flamingos, sharks, free-flying birds, reptiles, and even a sloth. Dive deeper into the underwater world in the Gulf of Mexico, where you’ll come face-to-face with sharks, stingrays, eagles and hundreds of other species. You’ll experience dive shows, animal feedings, training sessions, and hands-on programs with sharks, stingrays, and even jellies, and take in the amazing behaviors of dolphins, otters, birds, and more during our daily wildlife presentations. Catch a show in the immersive Whataburger 4-Dimension Theater and during the warmer months, cool off in a kid-friendly water playground

The Texas State Aquarium welcomes more than half a million guests each year who come to soak in the sights at our exhibits, presentations, or other attractions or commemorate a special event in our after-hours venues. The Caribbean Journey includes an expansive naturally-lit jungle where birds fly freely throughout, bright flamingos lounge in a lagoon, and aquatic overlooks hint at the underwater world waiting below. In Caribbean Journey’s underwater level, you’ll step into the immersive habitats of the colorful Coral Reef and the mysterious Blue Hole, and venture into the 400,000 H-E-B Caribbean Sea. This gigantic depiction of an underwater Caribbean reef features a life-size shipwreck, the longest display window in North America, and a underwater tunnel, where guests can behold sharks, stingrays, groupers, and other species from just inches away. The Gulf of Mexico contains dozens of additional exhibits, including Islands of Steel, depicting the life that teems under offshore oil platforms, Flower Gardens, showcasing a real-coral reef that lies off the Texas coast, and Tentacles, with the otherworldly octopus and jellies. Get up close and personal with dolphins from above and below the water in Dolphin Bay, and look to the skies as hawks, owl, and falcon soar above in the Hawn Wild Flight Theater. Touch and hand-feed stingrays at Stingray Lagoon, enjoy the energetic antics of otters in Otter Creek, watch as sea turtles gracefully glide In the waters of Tortuga Cay, and spy on an alligator and other scaly reptiles in the Swamp Tales. The fun continues in the Whataburger 4-Dimension Theater, which screens 3D films with interactive special effects, and the H-E-B Splash Park, a zero-depth water playscape (open in spring and summer).

After-hours event spaces are available in our most stunning aquatic exhibits including the H-E-B Caribbean Sea, Islands of Steel, and the Caribbean jungle look to give your get-together a truly unique backdrop with boundless photo opportunities. In the upstairs CITGO Skyline Venue, 300 guests can be seated in an elegant dining room overlooking the sparkling Corpus Christi Bayfront. These events can include our in-house catering, a dedicated event planner, animal encounters, dive shows, and other highlights to make the most of your event.

Open since 1990 and accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Texas State Aquarium is a nonprofit institution with the mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation. When you visit our facility, purchase from our gift shop or restaurants, or celebrate in one of our private event spaces, you’re helping us make a difference for the environment and the community. This includes the care of our animals and the upkeep of our exhibits, which bring to life the stories of marine and coastal animals and teach why it’s so important to conserve these species and their habitats. Your support of the Texas State Aquarium also helps fund our Wildlife Rescue and Recovery program, which treats hundreds of injured, ill, or stranded shorebirds, raptors, sea turtles, and marine mammals each year and works to release them back into their natural habitat.

What’s more, the Texas State Aquarium teaches more than 70,000 children each year through its environmental education programs featuring STEM Learning activities as part of the Flint Hills Resources Center for Excellence in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) Education. These programs, provide both on-site and through outreach and distance learning initiatives, are creating the next generation of scientists, educators, and environmental leaders.
