It depends how you arrange the group of animals....
If it is more circular, i gues I would prefer a horizontal format, if you put it as a kind of totem, it should be vertical.

Could you post a photo of your shoulder as well? The shape, the volume of it would also affect the composition.

This project is very sweet. I´ll do my best to do the right design for you. However.... 12 x 8 cms for 3 animals, might be a little small area to keep a good definition (once trasferred to the skin). I recommend you to ask a good tattoo artist if this would look ok. If you see the examples you´ve shown good definition remains in one subject, in this case you´re asking for three.
