Brief de Design de Logo

Update to requirements:

The best designs we've seen have a simple design to the left and text on the right. Our favorite ones are designs and sans serif fonts that are not too complicated. We would like to see logos that experiment with the design on the left being a stylized "Q". See the attached "sample" we made up as a rough guide. The color combinations we prefer are 1) dark yellow & black/dark gray/silver or 2) light blue & black/dark gray/silver.

We are a new company based in Houston, Texas that develops and manufactures equipment for oil and gas drilling rigs, primarily offshore. Our equipment is large and high tech. We want our logo to convey robust, reliable, safe, high tech, and modern equipment. We are a company of engineers selling to other engineers, so we want a logo that is simple and modern. We are open to all alternatives, but we have two possible ideas that can be developed further - Picture 1 is our old blue/gray logo. We definitely want to replace the logo font with something more modern, sans serif. Alternatively, we are thinking of a logo that uses dark yellow and black, similar to the colors on traffic sign. However, we are open to other ideas too. Don't try to mix the two ideas. A logo that has blue & grey and yellow & black will be too complicated....
