Brief de Design Illustration

I am seeking concept designs for a character.
Miranda James is the protagonist of a series of eight novels that I am preparing to write. She is 34 years old, slim, pale-skinned, with brown hair and blue eyes. She is a mechanic by trade, who always wears a football cap. She is aloof, not a team player, a great sense of humor, is more likely to jump in and get something going rather than discussing it, talks a lot when she is nervous.
I see her looking a little like Megan Gale, but more tomboy-ish. She has long hair, but pulls it back most of the time.
She is conscripted to a future-time 'army' to fight time disturbances. They will travel both forward and backwards in time.
Their time travel device is a glob of dull silvery stuff that they shove in their ear, which is actually a nano-colletctive, which then constructs a headset which is an earpiece, mouthpiece, and an eyepiece with a display close to the eye, and 'speaks' to their neuro-cortex.
She has attitude in her stance, no weapons about her (perhaps her mechanic's tools if you think she needs something in her hands), dressed in modern clothes, the tech should be futuristic, and the background should be shades of early American pilgrim.
UPDATE: I have attached a pic of a monocle to give you an idea of what the nano-collective would 'build' - but it would be much less obtrusive, really just a glass. Hope that helps...
