Brief de Design de Logo

Blue Cheetah Race Timing is an innovative, full service race management company that serves organizations and business that host marathons, 5K's, 10K's and half-marathons by providing accurate, technologically advanced "chip" timing services for racers.

Logo requirements:

Logo should incorporate the use of an original, sleek-looking cheetah (preference will go to realistic/abstract over cartoonish), emphasizing a blue coloring aspect to the animal. Additionally, using creative font work and layout, the words "Blue Cheetah Sports Timing" should be incorporated into the final logo. We are open to more abstract images of a cheetah, so if you would like to go this route, feel free to think outside of the box. As long as it's blue, catchy, and looks as sleek and innovative as our company, we'll be happy.

When we describe being open to "abstract art", think of the new Greyhound bus lines logo. It is clearly a greyhound, but looks more like modern line art. This might work well for the requirements of this logo.

Since the logo will frequently be printed on single process shirts and low quality race bibs, it should incorporate primarily one color so as to facilitate clear and economical printing on a variety of mediums while still maintaining a high visual appeal in the web world. The use of a common but eye-catching Pantone blue is encouraged. please, no gradients or any areas that require a white lay-down. this logo should be printable on almost any color shirt or bib.

We intend to allow a significant amount of creative license in the design, after all, that's what YOU are good at!

Hello Designers!


We are starting to get some really creative and innovative design ideas for our logo, and we applaud you!  While none have quite met with our exact specifications, there are a few of you that are VERY close to what we are looking for.  Here are a couple of key, recurring points that we are seeing in many of the logos, so we thought we would send each of you a note so that you can make revisions as you deem necessary.

First:  By the nature of our business, our logo will need to be printed on a VERY wide array of materials, some of which are very low quality by nature (i.e. 1-color race t-shirts of various background colors, tyvex race bibs, B&W flyers etc.) For this reason, it is ESSENTIAL that any logos and font work you submit must be compatible with this type of printing.  We've seen some beautiful, photo-realistic logos that we would love to use, but they simply do not work for our application.  You should be able to present your logo in color, desaturated, and desaturated in reverse, and they should all be equally appealing.

Continuing from above, we prefer line-art type logo drawing over photo or detailed drawings.  Some of you are VERY on point with the abstract, line-art concept for the cheetah, however the biggest problem that we have found is that our focus group has commented that some of these look like kangaroo's, dinosaurs, etc. We understand it is a tall order to request an abstract, line-art logo, and also have it look "realistic", but that's what we need, and based on the talent we've seen, one of you has the ability to do this!

Finally, almost universally the font work leaves a lot to be desired.  While the shadowing and gradients look amazing on the web, they will not translate well into low quality, 1 color screen printing.  Please, let's keep the font work clean and sharp with an even balance between the Cheetah and the works "Blue Cheetah Sports Timing"

We will be updating our associated images tonight with the concept logos we like the most as well as some ideas from the web.
