It this a Novel / Roman story or historical book? In what time it happening?

A poorly written and vague brief with curt and unhelpful feedback.

Two rules of cover designing are 1: know the content and 2: know the reader. If the Contest Holder doesn't even know the material of the book, (other than "there's an alphabet involved") how are we as designers supposed to know what to design. Another example of futile second guessing on our part. I give up on this one.
