Brief de Design de Logo

Vet Innovations, LLC. offers high-tech feeding devices for cats & dogs for the reversal or prevention of pet obesity as well as effective feeding of prescription
diets. We employ multiple technologies that are integrated into solutions-oriented products within key segments of the pet products industry. Our forte is the auto sensing and identification of a specific animal or pet to enable that animal to successfully interact with electromechanical devices.

We feel like there are both strengths and weaknesses to our current logo. Elements that should remain in the refresh are:
The dog and cat silhouette (you can retrace, reinterpret, or both)
The prominance of the word VET
A somewhat classic feel (I will expand on this below)
The tagline "Where Paws and Technology Meet".

What we don't like:

Because we are a technology company, the logo needs to convey a sense of modernness without sacrificing a classic, traditional appeal. This is where typography and color will really elevate the logo. The brand will cater to veterinarians, who are often traditional. We need to balance classic and modern in a clear manner. Although I do feel a serif font is appropriate, the current font feels tired and uninspired. I am interested in seeing additional explorations of serif fonts but am also open to incorporating sans-serif fonts either in the tagline or the entire logo.
We have versions with both red and brown but neither of these exact colors are working. We feel like the color family should primary be earth tones (ie. warm, organic, human) but would also like to see a some use of a modern color (a metallic, silver or gold perhaps?). I feel like there should be at least 2, possibly 3 colors utilized. I am looking to be pleasantly surprised by the interplay of the colors, so feel free to be creative and explore any color combination(s) you feel contribute to the logo's impact. Again, the objective is to balance classic and modern in a way that also reinforces the idea that Vet Innovations is "where paws and technology meet".
